Electronic gadgets, these techno booms of 21st century, are becoming more and more popular. A new electronic devices like tablet pcs are joining a traditional devices like desktop computers. Old analog formats are digitalized, traditional components replaced with new digital ones. Analog is these days out and digital is in. Not always favoring the quality (remember best HiFi components are still analog) but certainly beating traditional electronics in quantity and price.

New electronic gadgets are entering in every part of our home, office, street and hobby. Everybody has a cellular phone or even smart phone and almost everybody has its own PC. But this seems isn't enough. We will need also something that falls between the two - a tablet computer.

Tablets are latest gadget hit and it seems that trend will continue trough next years. Some speculate that tablets may outsell not only netbooks but even desktop PCs. Lately Microsoft bridged the gap between desktop and mobile computers with Windows 8 operating system. These means that all popular applications can be accessed now also on the go.

Beside Windows OS there are at the moment much more popular Android and Apple tablets available on the market. All tree big players have different concepts regarding tablet development. Overall tablet comparison shows that Microsoft bets on Windows compatibility, Apple keeps buyers on his proprietary playground while Android relays on open standards. Competition is getting stuff and it is hard to tell who will win. Apple tablets are lately loosing a lead while Microsoft with its own Surface line and compatible Windows RT and 8 tablets is yet to gain a share. There were attempts from RIM and HP to gain tablet share with their own operating system based tablets, but with little success.

It is surprising that there still exist such technology niches and maybe Apple's vision of touch screen driven devices will become a predominant electronic device in the future.

There are however some drawbacks, walking hand in hand with these new technologies. First is quality. If things used to last in the analogue era, this is not truth any more with today's electronics. Cellular phones and similar gadgets are becoming truly"consumer" goods. Buy, unwrap, use and throw away. The other dark side of today's electronic gadgets is their reliability. Too many times happen, that one must reset his gadget. Not to speak about poor plastic construction and fast wear off effects. On the bright side is the fact that prices are quite low for all the fun we got with bellowed electronic gadgets.
